2. Assessment
To assess how I might assist you, and how long the work will likely take, please email me a *brief, and a sample of the work to be edited.
A *brief is an explanation about the work. It includes a summary (description) of the work; an estimate of its size (a word count is optimal); a sample of the content; your timeframe, and any other information you think helpful or relevant. For example:
(i) it is my mother’s life story which I wrote. Included is a summary and the contents page; it is approx. 30,000 words; the sample includes chapter 1 and say chapter 5.
(ii) it is a counselling undergraduate assignment on whatever the subject; (2,000 words) due date…
A sample edit of a third of a page is offered to help you decide if you wish to proceed. All further queries or clarifications can be done by email or phone.
3. Commission
Once we’re clear on what needs to be done, I email a description of the commission with an estimated timeframe; a basic style guide; and a request for a down payment. The down payment is approximately 25% for large assignments and 50% for smaller ones. Once the acceptance email and payment are received via a Biller code, the work can proceed.
Notes
As a standard, all content is edited on A4 pages with standard margins (2.54cm all around) using Cambria size 11 font. The basic style guide is a list of specifications, to adhere to for the presentation of the content. It includes for example: page size; margins; text alignment and justification; font style and sizes; pagination; the consideration for headings and sub-headings for paragraphs; bullet points or numbered lists; English or American grammar. Please note, word formatting is a specialty in itself, whereas my focus and forte is content.

Price
AUD $50/hr. including GST. Payment is via Biller Code which will be emailed in our correspondence. For larger assignments, payment is required in 4 x 25% instalments of the estimated total price. How long the work takes depends on the level of editing required (see Types of Editing), and other workload at the time. Whilst I do my best to accommodate client’s timeframes, this is not always possible i.e., during times of high demand. I’m honest, mutually fair, and thoroughly enjoy helping my clients achieve their communication goals.

My editing principles and process are clearly outlined on this website. Please be acquainted with them as this is the service I provide.
Every amendment and suggestion will be a recommendation for the client to ‘accept or reject’ via tracked changes. It must be noted that any piece of writing can be expressed in a multitude of different ways, and whilst every effort will be made to assist the client to achieve their desired expression and communication in the first instance, all time spent suggesting alternative expressions will influence the overall time, and therefore potentially affect the final price. Ultimately any amendments to the work will be made in accordance with the client’s decision to ‘accept or reject.’ With acceptance of the commission, and where work has been partly or wholly completed, any payments made in advance, will not be refundable except in conditions assessed justifiable at my sole discretion. I trust this to be fair and understood, and I thank-you for your understanding.
